Can You Spot the Lie? Dragonflies…

Hello friends and Happy Friday! Sometimes in my research or general reading I come across facts about animals that are so bizarre or amazing that they seem impossible. I think to myself, Can that really be true? So this morning I had the great idea that I could feature a new category of blog posts here that is called Can You Spot the Lie? I will try to do a new one regularly but will always add the new ones to an old page so you will always be able to look back at previous “tests.” (This means you’ll always have to scroll down to the appropriate section to see the answers) It’ll be fun! Are you ready? Let’s go.

All you have to do is spot the lie in the series of 3.

There are two truths and one lie. Can you spot the lie?

A Dragonfly has big eyes!

We’ll start with an insect everyone can recognize– a DRAGONFLY.

  • My four wings beat up to 500 times per second.
  • I have 5 eyes, three simple eyes and two compound eyes with up to 30,000 individual lenses.
  • I am such a good flyer that I catch 90-95% of the prey I go for–in midair no less!

And one more round just because it’s Friday and I feel good.

Still about dragonflies. Can you spot the lie?

  • I start my life out in freshwater and may live there for more than 7 years before becoming an adult dragonfly with wings.
  • Like crickets, my ears are on my legs–behind my knees!
  • If I am male I can use my penis to scoop out or remove another male’s sperm.

So what do you think? Can you spot the lie?
