Weekly Puzzler #207: Bird of Prey with a White Rump and Long Tail

So now that you know what an accipiter is, let’s do one more. This next puzzler is a bird that, like a Cooper’s and Sharp-Shinned Hawk, has a long tail and rounded wings. This bird of prey though has a very distinctive white rump that is very obvious when you see it flying. Its habit is to fly low above fields, looking for potential prey.

Check out these photos. Do you recognize it? Have you ever seen it?

Notice the white rump, and its habit of flying low over fields.
Notice the long tail and white rump.
Looking for prey in the grass.

Please share with me your thoughts! I always like to hear from readers, especially if you want to guess the identity of the puzzler. Just use the comment box at the bottom of the post.

Have a great weekend. Stay safe. See you again soon.
