Peace in the Forest: A One Minute Meditation

As seems to be the case every year now, spring is speeding by and if you’re like me, you may find yourself looking out the window, seeing the new leaves on the trees, watching the birds catch insects for their babies, and wondering where the time went and how to slow things down so you won’t miss anything.

New leaves catch the rain drops.

Spring is my favorite season because I love the miraculous rebirth of everything. I love watching the ferns unfurling on the forest floor. I love the yellow-green color of the newly opening leaves against the blue sky. I love searching for spring ephemerals, feeling joy when I see them, like reuniting with an old friend. I love the glorious calls of the birds, filling the morning air with sweet music. I love the spring rains that make the streams run loudly down the mountain, over rocks and leaves. I love the feeling of the warm sun after the cold winter, and the smell of Lily of the Valley and Lilacs, Holly, and Viburnum. If only I could add some heavenly smells to my one minute meditation!

A Maidenhair Fern unfurling.

The other day, just after it rained, I took a walk in the forest beyond my house. It was the kind of glorious morning that makes me feel happy to be alive and grateful I have such a peaceful oasis. There is indeed chaos in the world but outside in nature, we can always find calm.

I filmed the stream bursting with water so I could share it with you. I hope you enjoy this short moment of peace.

What is your favorite season? What do you like best about spring? I would love to hear from you!

Stay safe friends and I hope to see you again soon.

So stunning! And I most definitely agree with you about Spring. The world comes back to life, including myself. So essential right now to realize that some things are a constant that we can depend on. Thank you for posting these, Sharon!

Yes true, you have a good point Renee, I too feel like I’m rejuvenated in spring! Thanks for reading!

  2. Your photography is so beautiful! Spring and Fall are favorite seasons of mine. A spring favorite is the lime-green of fresh new buds.
The bursting forth of new life. Thank you for getting us ‘out’ during this time of staying in!

Arden, what a great way to put it— I’m so glad I can offer something during this challenging time.

  3. I love the spring flowers and the unfurling of green that heralds the warmth and buzz of summer. Fall colors are beautiful but there are only reds yellows, and golds and they lead into the cold monochrome of winter

Yes, I’m on that page too. Spring gets my vote for the best season of the year! Thanks for reading. 😊
