Diamonds on Water: A One Minute Meditation

Hello, and happy Wednesday! Are you having a good day? Had any outdoor adventures lately?

I was going through my  road trip photography and videos recently and found some that I’d forgotten about, including these from this one minute mediation. The first part is moonlight shimmering off the water of a lake, looking like fireflies blinking in the darkness, or like diamonds shimmering in the night. I paired that with another video clip I’d taken on another day, at a lake up in Canada, near Banff National Park. In this one, the vegetation beside the lake danced in the wind and the sunlight glinted off the water. I could have sat there a long time, just watching the shimmering sparkles move across the water.

I hope you enjoy the moment of calm. Sometimes with all that is going on around us that seems bad, we just need to step away for a moment and remember there is such beauty in the world, such peace, if we allow ourselves time for it.

May the rest of your day be peaceful and easy. See you again soon.

Hi, Sharon, I just LOVE your ‘Water bubbles under the ice …’ and ‘Amazing designs under the ice!’ photos! There would be some pretty envious people in our photo club if they saw these. I did get one gorgeous photo of icicles growing like stalactites becoming stalagmites from a layer of ice and snow to another below along the side of a stream. There was just the right amount of snow when photographing wolves on Saturday. The wolves kept out of sight most of the time, but I passed on lunch to get at least one photo good enough to exhibit in the SPARK Photo Festival in April. I’ll send you my poem.
The temperature is expected to dive this afternoon and remain very cold through the weekend. There should be snow on the ground here, but you have to travel at least one hundred miles north to see much, and a winter landscape without snow looks barren and depressing, and the birds don’t come to my feeder.

Hey Murray, I am glad you liked the water bubbles under ice! I will post another soon that seems to be just what you spoke of–“stalactites” on a log hanging over the river. Winter can be a great season if we can just make ourselves get off the couch and outside. I often have to remind myself of that. Sounds like you have no trouble with that! … I wonder why you don’t have any birds at your feeder. It seems like at least chickadees and tufted titmice would be there.
