Weekly Puzzler #287: Wriggling Aquatic Critters

Hello and happy weekend! Another week gone, another day closer to the end of a season. For those interested in winning one of my greeting card sampler packs you have only two more weeks to get your name in the drawing as I will award a winner on December 17th, a few days before the first day of winter. You’ll find details at the end of the post on how to get entered.

So let’s do another puzzler! I’ve had this one on my list of potential puzzlers for a long time, but have never featured it. Today is finally the day!

Here are a few photos, and then a video, which will give you the chance to see this critter in action. They are really quite fascinating, wriggling through the water up to the surface and down again. Many hang upside-down at the top of the water, then wriggle down and back up again as I watch.

A heavily cropped image of two of the “wrigglers” at the top of the water.
These critters hang out at the top of the water.
There are many going up and down.
This is what the vernal pool looks like where these critters were found– here in western NC

Check out the short video clip.

Here’s the answer.

If you want to get your name entered in the drawing to win a sampler pack of my greeting cards you have only two more chances, this week and next week. To enter you must use the reply box below the post to give a guess. Your guess does not have to be correct! But you do have to use the comment box. Then, follow me on Instagram. That’s it! On December 17th, just a few days before the first day of winter, I’ll pull one name from the hat and send that person one of my sampler packs. This makes a great gift! (Consists of 5 cards, selling for $25)

I hope to hear from you soon!
