Weekly Puzzler #268: Bird with Black, White and Yellow Stripes On its Head

Happy weekend, our last one before we turn the page to yet another month. Next month is blue ghost firefly season!! I always look forward to this time of year so much as the fireflies put on such a magical show each night. If you want to join me for a tour, sign up here

Now, let’s get to our next puzzler. This is a bird with a beautiful song. It is quite distinctive looking too, with black eye stripes, white stripes on either side of the black and then one stripe down the middle of its head, and then a small rectangle of yellow between the two. Its brown back is streaked and it has a grayish white underside and orange legs.

It is smaller than a Brown Thrasher, but like a Brown Thrasher, will often be found hopping around on the ground, looking for seeds and other tasty things to eat.

Check out these photos. Do you recognize it?

If you know the name of this bird, or want to guess, use the comment box below. I’d love to hear from you!
