Hello and happy Memorial Day weekend! I hope you have fun plans and enjoy the holiday whatever neck of the woods you call home.
When I was looking over the list of puzzlers I have done, it was surprising that I have never featured this evergreen shrub that is common here in the mountains. It is native to the eastern United States, from Maine all the way south to Florida. It has gorgeous pink and white flowers in little cup shapes and the bush is often jam-packed with them, making it appear white from a distance. Right now in western NC, this shrub is in full bloom.
Check out the photos:
Have you seen this shrub blooming in a spot near you? Do you recognize it? You can drop me a note by using the reply box below the post. I’d love to hear from you!
Happy Weekend!
Such a delicate little flower! I remember seeing these in NC, but I don’t know the name.
That sounds beautiful!! Lucky you.
Hi Jill! Yes, it is a pretty little flower! Not found in CO— though there are SO many other beautiful flowers there. What’s your favorite?
We actually have this carved from wood on our mantel. It is complete with a pair of Carolina Wrens and a cute little yellow beetle
It’s Mountain Laurel! Blooming all over Western NC forests.
Thanks Sharon, always enjoy your refreshing and educational “Puzzlers”. Didn’t know how harmful it is to pick Trillions, never have and never will.
Helen, thanks for the compliment and for taking the time to write. Of course your guess is correct!
