A couple of weeks ago I spent a few days in South Carolina, outside of Charleston at a place called Caw Caw Interpretive Center. My time there was unhurried and peaceful, fulled with solitude and sunshine; I wandered the wetlands, watched birds, looked for animal evidence and explored the many trails through the forest and old rice plantations. One afternoon as I was making my way to the exit I sat down beside a canal to watch a long-legged bird hunting in the shallows. He was either really lucky, or really good, as it seemed like every time his long bill pierced the water, he emerged with something edible in his beak.
You can check it out here.
Do you know what the identity of this bird is? If so I’d love to hear from you! Use the comment box below to give your guess. Then check back next weekend to see if you are correct.
See you again soon!
He is really fast! Could it be a little blue heron?
Renee, Yes, he does seem lightening fast! And deadly accurate. And yes, you are correct! Hope you are having a great weekend!
