Weekly Puzzler #180:Long-legged Wading Bird with Curved Bill, Naked Head and Black Flight Feathers

Happy Saturday and welcome to winter. The Winter Solstice was yesterday and tonight there will be full moon. If you can, get out to enjoy it!

Last week’s puzzler was a silhouette of a bird called an anhinga. I’ve decided to stick with that theme and do another bird in silhouette, this one in flight. Check it out below.

Do you recognize it? Some clues are in the title: This bird is a long-legged wading bird, commonly seen in Florida. Its head is devoid of feathers and as you can see from the photo, it has a long, decurved bill. Lastly, it has black trim on its white feathers.

Go ahead and guess! Use the comment box below to give your guess. All correct answers will be entered in my next quarterly drawing. The more times you guess, the more chances you have to win the free prize. Murray–I know you’ll know this bird so I’m expecting to hear from you!

Have a great weekend! See you again soon.
