Weekly Puzzler #225: Big Eyes on a Green Body

Okay so I’m going to switch tracks today and feature an animal other than a bird for my next few puzzlers. This next one is AWESOME!! I was over-the-moon-thrilled when I recently discovered it on a leaf on a small tree called Spicebush (Lindera benzoin) in the forest in our yard in western North Carolina. I have been looking for this creature for years, and knew immediately when I saw it what it was. I took pictures right away, knowing this animal would change its appearance a few more times before it reached adulthood.

Here’s a photo of it as seen today: (I will show you how it looked when I first found it next week) It is fierce looking, right? Look at those eyes!

Look at those eyes!

If you think you know what creature this is, or if not and you just want to guess, I’d love to hear from you! Use the comment box below to give your guess. Click here for the answer to this puzzler, #225.

Have a great weekend! Are you ready for fall?

Arden, Yes, fall is here! I hope you are enjoying it…no, the puzzler is not a praying mantis, but good guess! It is a super cool insect for sure, as you will learn next weekend. Enjoy the lovely weather!
