Weekly Puzzler #224: Blue and Black Crested Bird

I’ve had some fun lately looking though some of my old videos and photos from past road trips and travels. It’s an avoidance tactic I’ve been using to stay away from the news and protect my sanity. Some days I feel so weighted down by the headlines and things I can’t change, it is hard to function.

On a good note, I have found so much unused material waiting to be shared! From birds, to insects, to plants and everything in between, I have discovered lots of future post topics.

For this week’s puzzler, I’ve created a short video clip from a trip to Alaska in 2016.

Check it out:

Does this bird look familiar? Have you seen it on your travels, or possibly, where you live? I would love to hear from you–use the comment box below to offer your guess. Then check back next weekend to see if you are correct.

Can you identify this handsome bird?

  1. I agree with you about the news. It helps for my sanity, as well, to focus on nature. Is this a Stellar Jay? We saw them in Colorado.

Renee, yes, you are correct—it is a stellar’s jay. Thanks for reading! Hope your Saturday is great. Don’t you just love the rain?

Arden, yes you are right! They are fun birds to watch, huh? Of course I would likely say that about any bird! They are all fun to watch and learn about.
