Happy Saturday! I hope you are having a great day and staying dry. Here in western North Carolina it has been raining for two days, making everything a bit soggy. I totally expect to be hearing the quacking of wood frogs at our pond in the front yard in the next few days, as the temperature today is supposed to be in the 60s. After our 14 inches of snow and cold temperatures, I suspect they will migrate to the pond thinking spring has arrived! Of course they will be wrong, but that won’t stop them from laying eggs. I will let you know.
Meanwhile, are you ready for another puzzler? In the theme of flying birds, I wanted to do this one from a photo I took several years ago while on a trip in Florida. It features two different kinds of birds, flying together. Check it out:
Do you recognize them? What two birds are pictured here?
Here is another photo, featuring the front birds.
If you want to guess, use the comment box below. If you are a blog subscriber and answer correctly, your name will be entered in the quarterly drawing to win a free prize. Next drawing is a long way off–the first day of spring, so you have plenty of chances to get your name in it.
Have a fabulous weekend! It’s the last one of this year! Will you do something special to make it memorable?
Hi, Sharon, I think the birds flying in front are Roseate Spoonbills; behind them are Wood Storks.
How did the Wood Stork get the name of preacher bird? The bird here sometimes referred to as such is the red-eyed vireo because it never shuts up. Louise de Kiriline Lawrence once counted over 20,000 songs in a day from a Red-eyed Vireo. Murray
Murray, the wood stork is sometimes called the preacher bird for its habit of catching fish and then standing around in a still position, like a preacher.
Guessing the front flyers are flamingos and the others are white bike from your hints.
