Weekly Puzzler Answer #171

Did you know the pretty bird from last week’s puzzler? It is called a Varied Thrush and can be found along the western coast of North America. With its black mask, orange throat and chest and wing stripes, it is quite easy to identify once you’ve seen a photo.

I was lucky enough to get to see this bird multiple times, feeding here in a mountain ash tree with a lot of other birds, like robins and western bluebirds. It was a feast for the eyes! So pretty are the red berries, and then to see the colorful birds feeding on them like candy was a real treat.

Have a great weekend! See you again soon.

Thanks Renee! I was at Moraine Lake in Alberta, Canada. It was like 7 degrees out and I was bundled to the max, standing in front of this mountain ash tree watching the birds eating the bright red berries like candy. Even though it was the crack of dawn and COLD, there were dozens of people around, all waiting for the sunrise and hoping for dramatic lighting on the mountains and lake. It is a beautiful place, and the reflection was nice, but this is my best picture of the morning!
