I’ve been spending time in some of my favorite places– unnamed meadows that most people would look at unfavorably, believing them to be full of weeds, reservoirs for mosquitoes or “other varmints”, or a slew of other negative descriptions. Every fall I look forward to visiting these places with my camera and an open block of time. When I’m there I meander, crawl, study, and immerse myself so much into the NOW that I lose track of everything but what’s right in front of me, in that moment. I never know what I might discover, only that it will be interesting, and often beautiful. This is food for my soul, a necessary fuel just like what I put in my mouth at mealtimes.
What feeds your soul? What makes you skip, and feel alive?
Silent and listen are spelled with the same letters. Think about that.”
I’d like to share some of that world with you now, through photos. Let this be your reminder to step outside and take time to look for beauty where you live, and to remember that sometimes the little wonders are just as awe-inspiring as the larger animals.
Open the window in the center of your chest and let the spirits fly in and out. ” –Rumi
