Hey, if you’re local to western NC, I’m going to be speaking about fireflies today at Wild Birds Unlimited in South Asheville at 3:30. I’d love to see you if you want to come out and be amazed by fireflies. There’s a lot more to them than most people think, starting with the fact that there are 2000 different kinds! If you join us, please introduce yourself and let me know you are a blog subscriber as I always enjoy meeting new friends.
I will admit that I’ve done this puzzler before, but wow, it was a very long time ago!! So many of you are new since then so I thought I’d do it again. I love finding these in the woods, and always feel just a little bit luckier when I do. They are so perfect! And I always think of them as Mother’s Nature’s art. If you remember this puzzler, you’ve been with me since the very beginning–thanks! And thanks too, to everyone out there following along at home. I appreciate you!
On a recent walk in the woods out my back door, I came upon these on the forest floor. I love finding little treasures like this! It always puts a smile on my face. Perhaps you’ve seen them in a forest near you?
Check out some photos.
Do you recognize these? What are they called? Or better yet, what ARE they?
If you want to get your name in my quarterly drawing, all you have to do is subscribe to my blog posts and use the reply box below to give a guess about a puzzler. I’ll put all of the entries in a bowl and then pull one out on the first day of summer. You can enter as many times as I do puzzlers!
Have a great weekend! Spring fever is here. Enjoy it!!
Devil’s snuff ball or star?
Hey Deborah, thanks for guessing! That is not the answer but at least you gave it a try! Hope the rest of your weekend goes well.
Earth Stars!
Sara, Yes!! Aren’t they cool?
