Hi Friends,
I know I’ve been away for a long time. Happy March. I hope you’ve been getting outside and having some adventures wherever you call home. I just wanted to give you an update.
I spent much of this past winter traveling, first to Southern Africa, then on to Mexico to witness the amazing migration of the monarch butterflies. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve likely seen some of my photos. I will post more in the future, and am working on redesigning my website so there is more useful and educational natural history information, and also details about my travels. And I am working on some new photo galleries that can showcase my work, and allow people to purchase any photo they see. I’m looking forward to getting this done in the very near future. Stay Tuned!!
Many of you have been along with me for years now, and some of you have even come to my house to witness the spectacular display of our very special Blue Ghost Firefly. These happen for about two weeks every May. You may recall my mentioning the light trespass we have been dealing with from our neighbors, and the lawsuit that we are involved in. I wish I could say this was all cleared up in our favor, but sadly, this is not the case. Things are ongoing and not resolved.
What has changed is that there was an emergency injunction that happened while we were out of town in Mexico, the result of which was removal of the plastic tarps we hung to try and block some of the light trespass. With the tarps now gone, much of the eastern side and back woods of our property is flooded with light that will make it difficult for the blue ghost fireflies to successfully reproduce this May. The case will go to required mediation in early May, and then, if that isn’t successful, will go on to court in the undetermined future, likely many months away. We are working with our attorney on some ideas to change that, and hope it will be successful. I’ll keep you posted.
I’ll keep you posted! Thanks for sticking with me. I hope to hear from you. Please use the comment box below, or if you have a private message, please, use my contact form. I look forward to hearing from you!
Over the years I have so enjoyed Sharons’ ‘Blue Ghost Fireflies’ event. I find ‘Up close and personal’ mingling with synchronized dancing fireflies, moths, and like minded nature loving folk, iabsolutely heart lifting fun.
Thanks Bea!
