Hi friends and happy weekend!
The butterfly of last week’s puzzler is a Pipevine Swallowtail. It has the characteristic J shape of orange spots on the outside of its hind wings and white dots on its abdomen. Did you see the post I did recently indicating how you can tell apart these confusing dark butterflies?

The caterpillar of this butterfly feeds on Pipevine, which if you have a sunny spot in your yard, you could plant to attract. Pipevine has gorgeous heart-shaped leaves and will readily climb on a trellis, arbor or other structure you want to cover.

Okay, let’s do another puzzler, this one featuring another insect that readily visits flowers. See if you recognize it–it’s a large yellow bee.
