Weekly Puzzler Answer #192

Can you believe it’s already the last weekend of March? April is just two days away! Has spring arrived yet where you live?

Did you recognize the bones from the skeleton in last week’s puzzler as those of a deer? Look closely at the skull.

The skull was the giveaway.

As you may know, deer are herbivores (plant eaters), so their teeth are much different than those of a carnivore (meat eater).

Check out the difference here in two skulls: The first from a deer, the second from a coyote:

Notice the lack of sharp teeth in front of the mouth
In contrast, check out this coyote skull. Notice the sharp canine teeth in the front.

Did you know that antlers and horns are not the same thing? Or that antlers are the fastest growing tissue of any mammal? Know what they use their antlers for? Here’s a story about two deer in my yard. Lastly, here’s a lessonfrom a deer–You can check that out here!

Check out my next puzzler–a tree whose bark resembles puzzle pieces. Do you know it?

Have a great weekend. See you again soon.
