Did you get last week’s puzzler? The beautiful cardinal flower?
Since we are on the subject of beautiful RED flowers, I thought I would do another one. Do you know this lovely flower, pictured below? It, like the cardinal flower, is a hummingbird magnet.
If you want to attract hummingbirds and butterflies to your yard, this is a great one to plant! When grouped together, the red and green color is striking. It needs full sun, grows about 2-3 feet tall and is as good as a magnet for drawing hummingbirds.
As a bonus, what bird is sitting in the middle of this group of flowers?
As always, use the comment box below to give your guess and then check back next weekend to see if you were correct.
Have a fabulous weekend!
I believe the flower is Monarda, bee balm as we call it. The bird is a sparrow. There are so many different sparrows, I won’t even attempt further ID.
Suzanne, you got it! Bee balm is an amazing flower, as you likely know! Thanks for reading and guessing! See you again soon.
She is correct and the bird is a song sparrow. What a great photo
Thanks, my birding expert! Someday our backyard will have a spot that looks like this!
