Questions to Ask Yourself…

To examine whether something is humane, first determine if you would want it done to you.

Myself and every vegan I know has one regret-— that we didn’t do it sooner. If you are open to the possibility of change and aligning your values with your actions, here’re some questions to ask yourself:

Do you support animal cruelty? If the answer is no, then why aren’t you vegan?

Will you choose compassion or cruelty? Empathy or apathy?

How silent would you want me to be if YOU were the victim of rape, imprisonment, torture and murder? Why is speaking for the animals extreme?

If there’s nothing wrong with eating animals we should start sending kids to slaughterhouses for field trips, right? If showing kids what happens in a slaughterhouse is too shocking for them to watch, maybe what we are doing to animals is wrong?

If killing animals is so humane and natural, why does watching the process invoke feelings of sadness, making you shield your eyes, or turn away? Do you react the same way to an apple or cucumber being picked?

If you can’t watch how your food is made, are you sure you should be eating it?

Did you know that every year 300 MILLION male chicks are macerated alive on the first day of their life so people can eat eggs?

Are you aware that a leading cause of species extinction, biodiversity loss, deforestation, water scarcity, water pollution, global warming, risk of pandemics, antibiotic resistance, and indigenous population displacement is animal agriculture and fishing?

Did you know VEGANISM is the single biggest way to reduce our environmental impact on Planet Earth? Do you love our Planet enough to make a change?

Vegans are against violence to animals. What part of this is hard to support?

Are you aware we could feed the entire human population if we ate plants? Do you see anything wrong with the fact that we can feed 80 BILLION animals but not 8 billion humans?

How broken is a system that kills babies so we can steal their Mother’s milk?

Ever considered that instead of being angry at vegans, you should be angry at society for brainwashing you to the point where you’re offended by people just speaking out against senseless violence?

In a world with thousands of plant based options, why do you continue to torture, kill and eat animals?

Should you exploit someone just because you can? Is that a good reason to justify eating animals?

Do you eat babies? (If you consume ANY ANIMAL products, the answer is yes) Calves are killed at 1-2 years (life expectancy 25-30 yrs), Lambs are killed at 3-10 months (Life expectancy 15 yrs), Piglets are killed at 3-6 months (Life expectancy 15 yrs), Chickens killed at 6 weeks (Life expectancy 10 yrs).

Did you know 97% of dairy calves are ripped away from their Mothers within the first 24 hours of life?

How can you say, “It’s my personal choice!” when voiceless animals are involved? Could you apply the same logic to your neighbor who beats his dog every day, or the priest who sexually abuses children?

Did you know humans can get all the protein they need from beans, lentils, quinoa, tofu and plants?

What do you think your baby would eat if you put a carrot and a bunny in the crib with her?

Could you put day-old chicks in a blender and turn it on, killing them? If not, how can you eat eggs– because this is what happens every single day to male chicks. They are gassed, or macerated when still alive. Is this okay with you?

Are you aware that in the United States we kill 17,000 chickens EVERY MINUTE?? That’s like killing an entire stadium full of chickens every 4 minutes.

Do you know there are many kind ways to get your omega-3 fatty acids that don’t involve killing and eating fish? These include Brussel sprouts, walnuts and flax seeds.

How is NOT supporting gassing pigs to death extreme?

At some point you should ask yourself why a mother elephant crying over her dead baby makes you sad, but a Mama cow crying over her stolen baby does not?

If you dinner tries to escape on the way to the slaughterhouse, maybe it’s not food– it’s your victim.

If you wouldn’t want to eat your dog, how can you justify eating a cow? Pig? Chicken? Lamb?

Did you know it takes 1847 gallons of water to make one pound of beef, but just 39 gallons of water for one pound of veggies?

Do you think you are so important that another living being had to suffer and die for you?

Why will you rescue a baby bird that hit your window, but pay for a day-old chick to be ground up alive so you can have eggs?

How much suffering would you need to see before you stopped contributing to it?

Did you know in order for you to have ice cream a Mama cow was raped, had her baby stolen from her multiple times, endured painful milkings daily for 4-5 years, and then, was slaughtered ? Is this something you can feel good about supporting?

Does it make sense that vegans need to explain why hurting animals is wrong?

Which is a more effective solution for saving our oceans– giving up plastic straws, or to stop eating fish and other ocean creatures?

Are you aware that 200 million land animals and 2 BILLION sea animals are killed EVERY DAY for food? Does this seem sustainable?

Isn’t someone’s life worth more than your sandwich, your bacon, your lobster?

Why is animal abuse socially acceptable, but choosing compassion and acting against animal cruelty considered extreme?

Do you support pigs being confined to spaces so small they can’t even turn around?

Why do you think it’s normal to kill animals, but considered radical to be against animal cruelty (vegan)?

Did you know parmesan cheese is made from baby cow’s stomach?

Did you know veal is a baby cow that was confined to a crate for 6-8 months before it was slaughtered, or that it never had a chance to drink his Mother’s milk? Did you know the veal industry exists because of the dairy industry?

Don’t you think it’s odd that the most intelligent species on the planet has been convinced that they have the same nutritional needs as a baby cow?

Don’t you think it’s odd that the most intelligent species on the planet has been convinced that they need animal flesh despite that the largest animal, the elephant, and the strongest animal, gorilla, feeds entirely on plants?

How can you love animals, and then eat them?

Why are vegans responsible for your emotional response to receiving factual information about the industries you choose to support?

Does it make sense that someone who is found to be abusing dogs is considered a horrible person, someone who is against animal suffering is considered extreme and someone who supports and feeds on animals and their products every day is normal?

Why do you think it’s okay that a baby calf is discarded as a waste product so you can put his Mother’s milk in your coffee?

If you had a choice, would you rather live in a world with or without slaughterhouses? That’s really the only thing you need to ask when deciding if you want to be vegan. The good news is you have a choice. All you have to do is act.

It’s never too late to change…Why are you not already vegan?
