Years ago I lived on a river in eastern New York State. I spent many hours canoeing the river and getting to know the surrounding wetland. One summer, this beautiful red flower was packed into huge areas beside the river, its feet ankle deep in water. Wow, it was spectacular!
I have since seen it in other places, but never as much as that summer. Now when I see it, it is usually one or two stalks here, one there, never in such a huge area.
Do you know this flower? Have you ever seen it growing where you live? Have you ever watched the insects and hummingbirds flock to drink its nectar?
Use the comment box below to offer your guess, then check back next weekend to learn if you were correct.
Have a great weekend! See you again soon.
