Did you have a good 4th of July? Maybe watch some fireworks? Have you gotten a chance to watch Mother nature’s fireworks yet this year? If not, you’re not too late! The show goes on, night after night after night. I bet there’s a good place to see it where you live.
I think of fireflies as Mother Nature’s fireworks. In some places, like the Great Smoky Mountains in the beginning of June, the fireflies are the main attraction. There is a species that live there that are synchronous! I have written about this in the past. I got to see them again this year, twice! And it was as impressive as always. I highly recommend it as a Bucket List Experience.
But there are many other firefly displays that don’t require reservations and a long road trip or plane ride. Find a wild field near you and go check it out after dark. I bet you will see fireflies working their magic.
Here’s a quick clip of a firefly display, along with a full moon and a little surprise about halfway through.
