Drink your tea, is a tohwee, don’t know if I spelled that correctly, but it’s the first bird song I learned when I moved to the mountains. I hear & see them in my backyard all the time….

This is the voice of an Eastern Towhee. It used to be called the Rufous-sided Towhee, but ornithologists have recently split it into two different species – the Eastern Towhee in the east and the Spotted Towhee in the west.
Michael, thanks for taking time to write. You are correct! I still sometimes forget about this new name and call it the Rufous-sided towhee.
