This sound is being made by a Chipmunk. Like many animals, they make a variety of sounds for a number of reasons. The cluck note is used to warn predators about an aerial threat like a hawk or owl. The first sound warns other chipmunks about the presence of a potential land predator, including people when we stumble into their territory.
Do you know much about this common animal? For instance where they live or how much food they can store in their CHEEKS!Do you know what’s special about their burrows or their feet? To learn more about them, check back next week as they will be the Weekly Creature Feature. Until then, here’s the next puzzler.
Enjoy your weekend!
