Making Greeting Cards
This program is a favorite of mine because I enjoy watching people exercise their creativity and escape the stress that sometimes accompanies daily life. I provide soothing music and a wide variety of materials, including a collection of rubber stamps, many of which are of animals, plants or trees and other natural scenes. In addition, I have an embossing tool, embossing powders, colored markers and pencils, cardstock, a crimping tool, special scissors and more. After a brief orientation and instructional period, participants will be able to relax into the moment and spend time creating some unique masterpieces that will be so much more meaningful than a store-bought card. This can be done as a general card-making session or in association with a specific holiday such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day, etc. ($200 to allow for materials)
For over five months in 2008, I lived in the woods and spent everyday walking north from Georgia to Maine on the world-famous Appalachian Trail. Then, two years later, I thru-hiked the John Muir Trail in southern California. This workshop offers practical advice on how to prepare and complete a long-distance hike, be it on the Appalachian Trail, the John Muir Trail or another. It can be specific to one trail, or done as a general How-to session on long distance hiking. It will include discussion of food and resupplying, equipment and other essential topics. I will bring materials to be discussed, such as my backpack, food, stove and other equipment.
Requires two hours and is limited to 15 or fewer participants. In this workshop students are not really making paper, they are RECYCLING old paper. We will transform a variety of types of paper, including glossy magazines, office, and even old wrapping paper, into unique works of art that can then be used in a variety of ways.
