Quote of the Week #32

a-2A friend of mine whom I met at my photography show at The North Carolina Arboretum this past winter recently shared with me that a close friend of his has died. Though I did not know this friend, the words he chose and the quote he included, moved me to tears. How powerful words can be! He said his friend “passed to the afterlife last Friday in the evening… She went quietly with the shadows of the sunset.”

My friend included a Native American saying that I feel compelled to share with you as this week’s quote. For me, it highlights how fleeting life can be. Perhaps it can serve as a reminder that we never know when our time on Earth will be up and so we should do our best to live in the moments we DO have AND to appreciate the special people we are blessed to have in our lives.

Thanks to Juan for sharing.

“What is Life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night.
It is the breath of the buffalo in wintertime.
It is the little shadow which runs across in the grass and loses itself in the sunset.” –Crowfoot, Blackfoot warrior and orator, 1890
